All winter: Tanka for August and September 2015

another day
without your eyes
your voice
your quiet movements
your huge presence

13/8/125

yesterday
we were all singing
forgetful
of time or our tasks
it was a party

16/9/15

all winter
my bed was a nest
inside a cave
the room full of books
my warmth and safety

  1. All about daze: The day before and the day after and the duration of winter. I think I like the cave full of books better than the party.

  2. Sometimes those days can become long, Rosemary, I am sure.
It is good to be able to sing unashamedly...a party mood is never in vain!
There is something warm & wonderful about being surrounded by books.

  3. I can feel the presence of such a huge absence and know exactly how that feels, my friend. I most love and resonate with your bed as a nest in a cave, full of books, your refuge. Mine, too.

  6. We are real wusses in Australia to call our winters winter. However it is comparative isn't it.? Our summers are extreme! Curling up with a book luckily can be done in all weathers.

  7. There is a sense of progression in these beautiful poems..processing maybe? winter and loss share a similar harshness and hopefully we can find ways through..i particularly like the idea of a nest surrounded by books

I too feel that we feel safe surrounded by the warmth of knowledge or leisure found in books.
    Beautifully executed!

  10. Hey I could get down with hibernating a bit with some books. Ha.
And hanging out with friends, a party or otherwise, and losing track of time.
been a while since I did that.

  11. I like the order you chose to present these trio. There is such love and melancholy in the first one. The second still remembers... but healing is beginning to take hold. The last one, with its winter, brings comfort in words.

  14. I like the cave of books! I want a cave of books where I can sing and dance like it's a party when I feel like it. The combination of cave and party feeling is irresistible.
